Rhine Falls of Schaffhausen
The story
The Rhine Falls roar through grey haze, with Laufen Castle perched on the crag to the right and a salmon leaping in the spray below. Turner made this watercolor on the spot in September 1841, one of about ten quick studies he produced standing at the famous Swiss waterfall.
