Dort or Dordrecht: The Dort Packet-Boat from Rotterdam Becalmed

A Dutch packet boat sits motionless on the river below Dordrecht, sails hanging slack while smaller boats pull alongside. Turner painted this in 1818 after visiting Holland, deliberately copying the style of the 17th-century Dutch painter Cuyp, who was hugely fashionable in Britain at the time.
