Wheat Field with Cypresses

A ripening wheat field, dark green cypresses, scattered poppies and the blue Alpilles mountains beneath a churning sky. Painted in 1889 while Van Gogh was a patient at the Saint-Paul asylum near Saint-Rémy. He thought this was one of his finest summer works and made three closely related versions.
