Portrait of Arthur Atherley as an Etonian

Arthur Atherley, fresh out of Eton in his white-tied school uniform with tousled hair, painted just after he left in 1791. He would go on to become a banker and Member of Parliament. Thomas Lawrence was only twenty-two when he made this, and exhibited it at the Royal Academy the next year.
