Troop movements in the estuary

Troops on the move through the estuary of the lower Piave, a key zone in the final campaigns of Italy's First World War. Sartorio had volunteered at the front since 1915 and treated military logistics with the same dramatic eye he brought to combat scenes. Painted in 1918.
