The story
Brightly painted yachts anchored in the Argenteuil basin, their vermilion hulls reflected in the rippling Seine. Painted by Monet in the mid-1870s, when he kept returning to this fleet. The masts impose a strong vertical rhythm on the broken Impressionist surface.
