The Mulberry Tree
The story
A single mulberry tree blazes in autumn, yellow and orange foliage swirling up from a rocky hillside against a deep blue sky. The paint is laid on so thickly the surface is almost sculptural. Painted in October 1889, and Van Gogh thought it was among his best.
