Little Cat
The story
A small black kitten approaches what was once a pumpkin and apples in a much larger still life — this is just the surviving fragment of it. Painted in 1888 while Gauguin was sharing the Yellow House in Arles with Van Gogh. X-rays have since revealed a beetle stuck in the wet paint.
