The story
A man in a top hat sits at the Café Tortoni, pen still in hand over a sheet of paper, looking up as if interrupted. The painting was stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston in 1990 and has never been recovered — the most valuable unsolved art theft in history.
