The Night Cafe, Arles

Solitary drinkers at the left and a more sociable group at the centre fill a late-night café in Arles. Gauguin painted this in late 1888 while sharing the Yellow House with Van Gogh, reworking two subjects Van Gogh had just painted — the Café de la Gare and a portrait of its proprietress Madame Ginoux.
