The story
A young Hungarian girl — Sher-Gil's eight-year-old cousin Babit — in a blue dress against a flat blue-green ground. Painted while Sher-Gil was finishing her studies in Paris, it marks her shift toward the simpler shapes and saturated colour that would soon define her Indian work.
