Posthumous Portrait of Ria Munk III
The story
A young woman stands full-length amid loose floral patterning. Klimt began this portrait around 1917, working from photographs, after Ria Munk took her own life in 1911 and her mother commissioned the painting. He died in early 1918 with it still unfinished on the easel.
