Nala and Damayanthi

King Nala of Nishadha and Princess Damayanti fall in love through messages carried by a golden swan, a story from the Mahabharata. Raja Ravi Varma painted this scene more than once in the late 1800s, including the famous Hamsa Damayanti of 1899.
