Marine avec vache, ou Au dessus du gouffre

A red cow stands on a jutting cliff above a churning Breton sea. Gauguin painted this in 1888 on his second stay in Pont-Aven, and hidden in the contour of the rocks he tucked the profile of a man — easy to miss the first time.
