L'Aven en contre bas de la Montagne Sainte-Marguerite

The Aven river runs below the Mont Sainte-Marguerite, with fields and a looming hillside arranged into clear bands of colour. Gauguin painted this in 1888 on his second long stay in Pont-Aven, as his work was decisively shifting toward flatter, more decorative compositions.
