Ganga and Shantanu
The story
The Kuru king Shantanu meets the river goddess Ganga on the banks of the river that bears her name, in a scene from the Mahabharata. Their union produces the great warrior Bhishma. Raja Ravi Varma painted the divine figures with careful naturalism and detailed costume.
