Cairn in Snow
The story
A Neolithic dolmen sits among three battered oak trees on a snowy hilltop, two snapped and one bent by the wind, while four ravens circle overhead. Painted in 1807, it's read as a meditation on death and on Prussia's recent military defeats by Napoleon.
