Bowl with Peonies and Roses
The story
Pink roses and red, white and orange peonies crowd a dark green bowl. Painted in Paris in autumn 1886, when Van Gogh's brother Theo was nudging him to brighten his palette. Flowers were a cheap subject for trying out vivid new colour combinations.
