Arrival of the Normandy Train, Gare Saint-Lazare

Steam billows up into the iron-and-glass canopy of the Gare Saint-Lazare as the Normandy train slides into the platform. Monet rented an apartment nearby in 1877 and painted the station a dozen times — one of the first painters to take a modern train station seriously as a subject.
