Amrita Sher-Gil Hillside 1938 Simla

A 1938 landscape from the year Sher-Gil spent between her uncle's estate at Saraya and Simla. One of a group of smaller works in which she experimented with flatter, more decorative compositions, drawing on Mughal miniatures and the Ajanta murals she had studied the year before.
