Women Picking Olives
The story
Three women picking olives. Van Gogh, who had once been a lay preacher, linked this kind of labour with Christ's suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane. Painted late in 1889 at Saint-Rémy, and meant as a gift for his mother and sister.
