The story
Village women on the southern shore of India at Cape Comorin, painted during Sher-Gil's 1937 tour of South India. A quieter companion to her bigger South Indian paintings of the same year, reflecting the influence of the Ajanta cave paintings and Mughal miniatures she had been studying.
