The Last Supper
The story
Christ sits with his twelve apostles at the moment he tells them one of them will betray him — and you can see the shock ripple down the table. Leonardo painted it on a refectory wall in Milan in the late 1490s, using an experimental mix of paints that started flaking almost immediately.
