The Adoration of the Kings (Monforte Altar)

Kneeling in the foreground is Joseph, who greets the Three Magi – who approach Mary and the child from the right – with a bare head. The eldest of the three kings kneels before the child in an attitude of prayer.As a sign of humility, he has removed his precious crown- hat. Standing before him on the rock is his gift, a goblet filled with coins. The second king also worships the child from a kneeling position, the movement of his right hand expressing profound veneration.
