Street in Nervesa
The story
A lone soldier walks down a ruined street in Nervesa, the town wrecked during the battle of the Piave. Made on 24 June 1918 in tempera and pastel on paper, this is one of Sartorio's many eyewitness records of Italy's First World War front.
