Shrove tuesday (Pierot and Harlequin)
The story
A young Pierrot in white and Harlequin in red diamonds stride forward together — Cézanne's son Paul modelled Harlequin. Painted in 1888 in his Paris studio, an early try at the figure ensembles he would return to in the Bathers.
