Seashore with fisherman
The story
A lone fisherman stands on the Baltic shore with his back to us, watching the sea as sunlight breaks through the clouds. Cool greys and blues fill the picture. Painted in 1807, it's one of Friedrich's earliest mature Romantic landscapes.
