Ploughed Fields ('The Furrows')

Nothing but clods of freshly ploughed earth under a pale blue sky. Van Gogh laid the paint on so thickly that the canvas feels tactile. He called it "a landscape with nothing but clods of earth" under a forget-me-not sky, and meant it for the walls of his Yellow House. Painted in 1888.
