Matsya Avatar of Vishnu

A printed image of Vishnu in his fish form, rising from the great flood with the four Vedas cradled in his arms. Based on a Raja Ravi Varma painting and published by the Ravi Varma Press, whose colour prints from the 1890s onwards put images of Hindu gods into ordinary Indian homes for the first time.
