Etching of "Manet Seated, Turned to the Right"

The painter Édouard Manet, hat in lap and beard neatly trimmed, sits leaning slightly to the right. Made by Degas in the mid-1860s when the two artists frequented the same Parisian cafés and exchanged ideas about modern subjects — well before their later falling-out.
