The story
An elephant hunt thunders through the forests of Rajasthan in this 1740 painting from the Kota court. Kota painters were famous for capturing the great beasts in motion, and royal elephant hunts were a favourite subject — a chance to show off both the artist's skill and the patron's prowess.
