Amrita Sher-Gil View from Studio
The story
A bare, forked tree trunk rises against a courtyard block beyond, painted from Sher-Gil's Paris studio in 1934. The brushwork is loose and quick. The small canvas later won the prize for best oil painting at a 1938 exhibition in Delhi.
