Amrita Sher-Gil Portrait of Helen 1938 Lahore

A portrait of Helen Chaman Lall, painted from a Lahore hotel room in January 1938. Sher-Gil made it without charging the family. It is one of the most intimate of the portraits she produced during a brief but productive winter in Lahore before returning to her uncle's estate.
